Why Every Woman Who is Concerned About Ageing Should Be Using Dermalogica’s Antioxidant Hydramist!

Dermalogica Age Smart Antioxidant HydraMist

Dermalogica Age Smart Antioxidant HydraMist

Stimulate Collagen, Instantly Firm Your Skin and Boost it With Antioxidants

You know are skin is with us all our lives, it lasts longer than clothes, a pair of sunglasses and that flashy looking hand bag and if you are like me and want beautiful, healthy skin, looking after your skin with the best anti-aging ingredients is a wonderful way to ensure that your skin lasts a life time.

Now I have been updating my knowledge over the last few days

on the ageing process and I am glad that I use dermalogica antioxidant hydramist on a daily basis! I cannot believe how powerful and full of goodness it is and if you’re like me and want to do everything you can to slow down the ageing process let me tell you why you need to use this dermalogica age smart product as your first step in the protection of your very best asset – your skin!

Dermalogica’s Age Smart Line  uses the latest in peptide technology and looks at how the triggers of collagen breakdown can be slowed down or halted.

What’s so Good About Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist?

It really is another instant effect dermalogica product that not only you feel the difference straight away but it hydrates your skin, has brilliant antioxidant protection, stimulates new collagen formation with the use of peptides and vitamin c (a.k.a MAP) and gives you an instant flash-firming effect.

I really like it because it has ingredients in it that help to combat advanced glycation (sugars that attach themselves to proteins – such as your collagen and break it down) this product has the polypeptide argentine/lyseine that stops sugars binding to your skin’s collagen stopping it from breaking down – a BIG REASON WHY YOU NEED TO USE THIS DAILY!!!!! It contains Glucosamine that controls this processes and stops your collagen from cross-linking which gives you those deep wrinkle lines.

It also protects your skin with my favourite ingredient at the moment which is White Tea Extract (I do drink White Tea daily now, however it’s a sad fact that none of this goodness goes straight to my skin on my face, but gets used in the body – that is why I suggest you use antioxidant hydramist because applying them topically to your skin does give you protection). White Tea Extract stops the enzymes called Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) in particular the enzyme Collagenese that breaks down collagen in your skin when activated either from inflammation or UV.

As we age our natural MMP protectors or inhibitors decline so we need to combat this with topically applied ingredients and White Tea is excellent at controlling these, along with Vitamin C, so you know that any collagen-regeneration products you apply are not going to be wasted, as you know you have White Tea which is inhibiting the MMP’s from breaking down your newly formed collagen!

Packed with Antioxidants such as vitamin C, White Tea is a great antioxidant, liquorice and glycosmine you know that these antioxidants are trapping free-radicals.

What’s so bad about free-radicals? They are responsible (another factor) that may cause damage to your dna, collagen and elastin cross-linking which shows up in your skin as lines, wrinkles, hyper pigmentation and inflammation – you see it’s important!

This amazing topically dermalogica age smart mist also contains Pea Extract which acts like egg white and as the mist dries on your skin it gives your skin that tautness and it’s great to use if you get hot as the cooling mist really helps calm your skin and the beautiful rose, clove and lemon aroma is wonderfully refreshing .

This super-mist also helps to stimulate hylauronic acid with the ingredients glucosamine and Bamboo and sorry to go on about this product but it does have so many great ingredients in it that do so many wonderful things!

The great palmitoyl tripeptide-5 is also in it that helps to stimulate collagen formation and stop the MMP’s from being activated and breaking down the newly formed collagen.

There are great soothing ingredients such as vitamin E, beta-glucan and liquorice and also vitamin a in the form of retinyl palmitate.

If you are concerned about your skin aging and want to keep your skin looking as good as possible, use this product under your moisturiser, it really is every woman’s best friend.

How to Use Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist

Prepare your skin by cleansing it with dermalogica precleanse and then your specific dermalogica cleanser, if your concerned with ageing and don’t have sensitive skin then you could try dermalogica’s skin resurfacing cleanser. After you have cleansed your skin, close your eyes and lightly mist your face with the antioxidant hydramist, (don’t let it drip over your face, just a light misting as if you are going to apply hair spray). Next gently press the antioxidant hydramist into your skin and before it’s absorbed into your skin (it should be slightly damp) apply your chosen moisturiser. I really like dermalogica’s dynamic skin recovery for day time use as it does go really well with the dermalogica antioxidant hydramist and it has an SPF30 in with it.

LOVE IT?? HATE IT?? Tell me what you think of dermalogica age smart antioxidant hydramist and comment below, I love to know what you think!

Get a ‘WOW’ Effect With Dermalogica’s Age Smart Skin Resurfacing Cleanser!

Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser

dermalogica age smart
Dermalogica Age Smart Cleanser that Gives Super Smooth Results

Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser has to be one of the best cleansers in the dermalogica line and this is a new cleanser from dermalogica’s age-fighting Age Smart Range. If you like really super smooth lovely soft skin this is it! I have tried many different alpha hydroxy acid lactic acid cleansers before but it’s amazing how this cleanser actually does soften and smooth your skin instantly, you only need to use this dermalogica cleanser once for you to see and feel the difference, results are amazing.

How does this age smart cleanser get your skin so soft, smooth and clean? Let’s have a look at the ingredients and the way it works on your skin.

Dermalogica Age Smart Cleanser Ingredients

This skin resurfacing cleanser is designed to be a two in one cleanser that cleanses and exfoliates your skin at the same time. You only need to do one cleanse with this cleanser, but make sure you use dermalogica’s Precleanse before using this cleanser to get perfect clean skin results.

Lactic Acidis what gives you that wonderfully smooth effect on your skin from this dermalogica cleanser. It contains five percent Lactic Acid that is enough to give you that incredibly smooth feeling but also helps to brighten and hydrate your skin from within. On first time use you may experience tingling sensation on your skin and this is a normal effect, however do not use it around your eyes or get it in your eyes – it will sting like CRAZY! If you find this cleanser burns your skin, it’s not for you and you would be best to try dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser.

You have got to try and see how smooth your skin is from this cleanser and try out the half face test. Wash your face one side with skin resurfacing cleanser and the other side with any other cleanser, wash your skin and dry it off and then pat your skin dry and feel the difference, it really does feel clean and fresh.

Why would dermalogica put this much Lactic Acid into this age smart cleanser?
Because cleansing your skin prepares your skin for the actives in the dermalogica age smart to penetrate evenly and deeper into your skin, there is no point using dermalogica’s MAP-15 Regenerator if you are not effectively preparing your skin beforehand in the correct way.

As we get older our skin can become more sensitive and this dermalogica age smart cleanser has added Rose Flower Oil which helps to calm your skin from any irritation and Vitamin Eis added to help smooth your skin and provide antioxidant protection. Vitmin E is also a great preservative and you will be happy to know that dermalogica skin resurfacing cleanser is paraben-free.

Vitamin E applied topically does help improve the smoothness of your skin and has great anti-inflammatory properties.

If you really need a cleanser I think it’s worth giving dermalogica skin resurfacing cleanser a go, particularly if you are concerned with keeping your skin looking good for longer and improving it’s current condition.

Dermalogica’s Smart Moisturiser For Premature Aging

Dermalogica Age Smart Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30

Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery

Dermalogica Age Smart Potent Moisturiser

If you’re concerned about ageing and want more than just a moisturiser that only hydrates your skin then dermalogica dynamic skin recovery is just for you. If you are aware of the dermalogica age smart range you will know how good it is and dynamic skin recovery is no different.

It’s a moisturiser but it also helps your skin fight skin aging free radicals (not that much different from the other dermalogica moisturisers) however the key thing about this dermalogica product is it actually helps your skin fight against the damaging effects of glycation.

Glycation is a new term what is floating around in the skin care industry; it’s the reaction between sugars (glucose) and amino groups in proteins. Collagen is a protein and as a result the sugar reacts with it (known as glycation) causing glycation and free radical damage. The result from this process is inflammation (which accelerates the aging process), the loss of collagen and elastin and also can stop skin cell growth.

The scary thing is our body cannot reverse the glycation process or remove it. Dermalogica however when developing the Age Smart line has discovered a peptide molecule that can act as a ‘sugar trap’ allowing the sugar in the body to bind to it. The peptide is known as Arginine/Lysine polypeptide and thankfully this is included in this moisturiser, providing to your skin an anti-glycation effect!

Yes is new technology, but it’s amazing that we now have a moisturiser that can help protect our skin from this. Dermalogica are starting to use more and more peptides in there formulas and in this dermalogica moisturiser again they have added another peptide known as Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5.

This peptide is amazing, I mean it really is clever it actually activates tissue growth in your skin, it’s a skin-firming peptide and also stops the process of the enzymes that are responsible for breaking down collagen.

Dynamic Skin Recovery Moisturiser

Ok, this moisturiser really feels creamy on the skin, but not on the thick and heavy scale, it’s rich but not thick and it’s jam-packed with moisture usch as hylauronic acid to provide maximum skin hydration. It’s got glycosamine in there which not only fights the glycation process but it stimulates the production of collagen and hylauronic acid in your skin.

Evening Primrose Oil is in this moisturiser and you can tell and feel how it repairs your skin and helps keep it hydrated and it last’s throughout the day. As aging and inflammation go and in hand, it’s no wonder that dermalogica have included ingredients such as Colloidal Oatmeal – which is an absolutely brilliant calmer of skins (I use this a lot in my treatments for anyone with extremely sensitized skin conditions) and Feverfew Extract which helps to calm irritated skin types.

Free radical damage from pollution, smoke and everything else bad around us and White Tea Extract helps to protect our skin against this but it’s also incredibly good at helping with preventing glycation in the skin a really potent and good antioxidant is White Tea.

When you use this creamy moisturiser you will notice how incredibly calming and hydrating it is and will now be happy in the fact that it’s doing all of those amazing things I mentioned above! It’s a daytime moisturiser and it does contain an SPF30. I find it does not leave my skin with any white residue that a lot of sunscreens can, it blends really well and the hydration lasts all day and make up goes on over the top great. Don’t forget that UV is the major cause of skin aging so make sure that if you are going out in the sun all day that you reapply for that extra protection. Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery is more suitable for anyone with premature aging. I have seen client’s skin’s fine lines vanish from using this daily, it’s really good for anyone with a dry, dehydrated skin type.

Hydrate and Brighten Your Skin at the Same Time!

Dermalogica Chroma White – Pure Night Moisturiser

Dermalogica Chroma White Pure Night

Dermalogica's Pure Night Moisturiser

Dermalogica Chroma White system is a professional skin care system for helping to reduce hyper-pigmentation. It’s a whole system designed to prep the skin, treat the existing hyper-pigmentation and preventing future pigmentation all while providing skin results. In fact dermalogica found that by preparing the skin (by exfoliating the pigmentation – brown patches areas) and protecting the skin from further sun damage are two of the most critical things when trying to treat hyper-pigmentation on your skin. That is why they have six key products that target your skin health and hyper-pigmentation at the same time.

I am going to tell you about dermalogica’s Pure Night which is one of the products from the Chroma White Range and why you should use it, what it will do for your skin and how it works.

Dermalogica Pure Night

Pure Night is a pigmentation brightening moisturiser (that treats hyper-pigmentation and protects)  that like the name suggests for ‘night-time use’. The key brightening ingredients in the dermalogica Chroma White range is the exclusive oligopeptide-34, this peptide which helps to prevent pigmentation in the cells of your skin for superior skin brightening results. When your skin is under stress which could be from UV radiation, irritation, stress or exposure to chemicals your skin responds by making melanin (melanin is your pigment in the skin that controls the colour).

Oligopeptide-34 works by stopping the trigger from reaching the melanin, therefore stopping it to produce pigment. This peptide also stops the skin from transferring the melanin to other cells in the skin. This peptide was developed by dermalogica and an Asian company and so far dermalogica is the only skin care company that is using this peptide. The results from this peptide have been amazing (what I have been told), it is also said to be far superior to Vitamin C and works on lightening your skin.

Pure Night not only boosts the most newest peptide on the market for pigmentation(Oligopeptide-34 – a big dose of it) but it also contains Lactobacillus Pumpkin Fruit Ferment Filtrate which exfoliates your skin to smooth it’s appearance and help to eliminate those dreaded age spots (pigmentation) and boost the brightening process on your skin by treating and fighting pigmentation at the same time.

Pure Night is a moisturiser so it also works by protecting the barrier function of your skin over night with the help from Jojoba Seed, Cranberry and Raspberry Seed Oils that protect your skin from moisture loss. I find that the consistency of Pure Night is kind of  like Skin Smoothing Cream (a medium-weight moisturiser) it’s not too heavy, just right, Pure Night feels beautiful on the skin, very calming and hydrating and conditions your skin at the same time but if your skin is more on the drier side you can actually apply dermalogica’s Super Rich Repair over the top for extra hydration if you need it.

More than just a moisturiser Pure Night has time (over the night) to work on your skin delivering active and stabilised Vitamin C to prevent more pigmentation and deliver brightening and also helps to smooth fine dryness lines! Ninacinamide is used to topically control any inflammation in your skin (dermalogica always use calming ingredients in there products which I like) but it also helps to decrease pigmentation along with White Tea to enhance the brightening process once again.

Pure Night is a really nice moisturiser, very calming, great consistency and feels wonderful on the skin along with it’s brightening properties, however please remember that if you are seriously considering at reducing your pigmentation you need to use the whole Chroma White Range to get results and expect to wait at least sixty days before you can see a difference.

Do You Make These Seven Skin Care Mistakes?

The Seven Deadly Sins of Skin Care and What to Avoid

Wondering why your skin is not as good as it should be. Find out the worst things you can do to your skin and avoid these mistakes.

Seven Skin Care Bad Habits

  1. No Sunscreen – Don’t make the mistake of notwearing sunscreen, so many people either do not wear sunscreen or rely on there sunscreen in their foundation (wrong!). Never rely on your foundation sunscreen protection, for the simple fact that we do not apply enough to the skin to warrant protection, just think of it as a bonus to your already applied sunscreen. You should apply a good dollop amount to your face for adequate sun protection and you really need to know if the make up with the sunscreen does protect you from UVB and UVA rays (most don’t).
  2. Leaving Your Make Up On When You go to Bed - You really should wash your face at night time before your face hits the pillow. Making your skin super-clean before you hit the sack allows your skin to detox over night, clear the pores and allow your skin to breath. It’s also a really good idea to apply a treatment serum or some other active cream, to give your skin a treat.
  3. Smoking – Smoking causes free-radical damage, that leads to premature aging and this also includes passive-smoking
  4. Stress – Stress is a major factor when it comes to the health of your skin, and adult acne is becoming more and more popular. Stress causes your skin to produce more oil-flow do to your raging stress hormones, my advice, go to bed early, apply some calming products to your skin such as the new Dermalogica UltraCalming Serum and take some time out (your skin will thank you for it).
  5. No Eye Cream- Your eyes is the first place to show the signs of aging, using a good eye cream is vital. Not only will a eye cream slow the aging process down but it will help to prevent dehydration and puffiness (want to hear something gross – somebody just told me today that cosmetic eye surgeons scrape eye cream globules from behind the eyes when they perform eye lid surgery! Apparently from really cheap eye creams that just absorb through the skin and just sit there making the eyes puffy!!!! They scrape them out!!!! A major reason why you should invest in an active eye cream that works!)
  6. Soap User- If your addicted to that super-clean feeling you need to change to an adequate soap-free cleanser like special cleansing gel. Soap strips the skin of it’s natural protective barrier which leads to dehydration, or worse wrinkles. It also can make your skin more sensitive, and because it’s not ph-balanced it can strip your skin of it’s natural oils that in turn causes your skin to respond by producing more oil (ever wondered why you produce oil during the middle of the day – it’s because your skin is dehydrated and tries to compensate with increasing oil flow!)
  7. No Moisturiser – If you don’t do much with your skin, at least moisturise and this includes oily skin types. Moisturiser replenishes your skin, providing a protection from dehydration and infusing your skin with moisture. Not using a moisturiser causes your skin to rapidly dehydrate eventually causing fine lines that lead to deep wrinkles. Oily skins need to use an oil-free moisturiser to keep the skin hydrated without added oil it really is an important step in your Skin Care routine.

Dermalogica Facials – Are They Any Good?

Dermalogica Facials – Everything You Need to Know…

Dermalogica Facials - Yummie!

You Cannot Beat a Dermalogica Facial

Dermalogica facials are the best if you are ever lucky enough to ever try them, performing many many dermalogica facials over the years I get to see many skin conditions and being in the beauty industry I have had the pleasure of experiencing many different types of facials all over the world and dermalogica facials, I still consider to be one of the many top facials you can have.

What’s so Good about Dermalogica Facials?

Dermalogica facials if done correctly will leave you feeling absolutely amazing, they feel incredible and they deliver incredible results to your skin. This has a lot to do with the expertise, touch and attitude of the therapist, the actual salon atmosphere and of course the dermalogica products. The Dermalogica Facial which I also call the dermalogica skin treatment is a customised facial especially designed to the needs of your skin right on the actual day to deliver results each and every time you have a treatment.

You may be concerned with breakouts on your chin area with your first treatment, but your next treatment you may be concerned with sensitivity on your cheeks. The dermalogica skin treatments are designed exclusively for you and your skin, giving you the best for you and your skin – this is what makes dermalogica facials so good!

What’s Involved in a Dermalogica Facial?

  • It all starts off with a professional skin care consultation, you are asked to fill out a skin health card so your therapist can tailor-make your dermalogica treatment exactly to you and your skin (if you don’t fill out a skin health card, then think wisely about the places you are going for facials, as any good therapist will look at your card, and make sure that you do not have any allergies or health problems that need to be considered during your treatment).
    • After dressing down and robing up, you will first experience the dermalogica double cleanse technique that normally begins with precleanse. A professional cleanse adequately penetrates layers of oily debris for complete removal, ensuring a more intense, more professional and more thorough level of clean.
  • Face Mapping is the key to accurately look at your skin and tailor-make your dermalogica facial exactly to your specific skin conditions and concerns.
  • Get ready for your specially designed professional dermalogica exfoliation suited perfectly for your skin, leaving your skin phenomenally smooth, rejuvenated and fresh.
  • If you suffer with any blackheads your in luck as the dermalogica extraction technique is the most efficient way to remove blackheads from the skin without further impacting the health of the skin and without spreading acne or breakout causing bacteria.
  • Now here comes the facial massage(if you chosen this option), did you know your dermalogica therapist can actually select what special massage cream, additive, serum, complex, botanical or oil-free is to be used on your skin and your preference.
  • Next prepare for your masque, that is applied to your skin, over the top of one of many dermalogica active complex’s or serums to boost the effectiveness of any masque, we normally customise these with soothing botanicals that smell divine and the serums are specially selected to address your skin’s particular needs on the day.
  • Your face is then spritz with light hydration.
  • A specific dermalogica active serum or booster is applied according to your skin’s needs.
  • Dermalogica moisturiser, eye cream and sun screen is applied and the final step is the application of treatment foundation, if you need any applying.
  • There are many steps involved with a dermalogica facial, and every time you experience one, you may find that they are slightly different, based on how you are feeling, how your skin is responding and what your main concerns about your skin are. That is why your skin literally glows ever time you are lucky enough to experience one.

Customise Your Dermalogica Facial

My Dermalogica Facial Treatment Room

Ahh...Dermalogica Facials.....

Many dermalogica skin care centres are now allowing you “the client” to actually tailor-make your experience that little bit more during your dermalogica facial. I offer this option at my dermalogica salonsand it works well, you

see I find that not everybody likes to have a facial massage (can you believe it!) so you now have the option of choosing massage options that can actually enhance your dermalogica facial experience.

You can choose to have a traditional european facial massage, a pressure-point face massage, which is great for sinuses or headache relief, a stress reducing back massage, reflex foot therapy option, a spine-tingling scalp massage or if you have serious issues with your skin or don’t like massage you can skip it out completely and let your skin care therapist work more on your skin, please not not every salon offers this option, but it is becoming more popular.

There are many steps in a dermalogica facial treatment and the skin care therapist must have knowledge on the skin, skin health and have that gentle touch that feels sooo amazing, that keeps you coming back for more!

Get Your Skin Ready For Spring!

Getting Skin Ready For Spring
Spring Time Ready!

With The Warmer Season Coming Upon Us – What is the Best Way To Get Your Skin Ready For Spring?

Your skin changes through out the seasons, as winter approaches the best thing is to change to a more hydrating moisturiser to combat moisture loss, but in Spring you really need to do the opposite. When the weather starts to get warmer I like to have a course of peels, spring is a perfect time of year to refresh your skin and “spring clean” as such and a course of peels keeps my skin in shape for the season. It is also a really good time to update your skin care at home routine and checking that your exfoliant and moisturiser is still right for your skin

Exfoliation is important throughout the year, but in the spring your skin care should be taken up a notch to get rid of any dry, flaky skin patches you have had during the winter period. Exfoliating with dermalogica’s daily microfoliant is a great gentle daily exfoliant you can use that gives instant results, however it is not a true exfoliant, as it really microfoliates the skin. Increase your exfoliation by incorporating dermalogica’s Age Smart Thermafoliant into your routine, that can be used twice a week and is suitable for a more mature skin type, but it not only exfoliates it infuses your skin with vitamins at the same time, so you get a lovely glow (you would not use daily microfoliant on the day of using Thermafoliant – too exfoliating!)

With a good exfoliant in your routine, with the warmer months approaching, you may need to change to a lesser hydrating moisturiser, the sheer moisture range by dermalogica is great because it is light hydration (in between active moist and skin smoothing cream), can be tinted or untinted and has an SPF15 sunscreen in it.

Make sure you are drinking enough water, remember a minimum of eight glasses of water a day, helping you to remove toxins in the body and flush out your system. With your body on display more in the spring than the winter, a total body overhaul may be your thing, however to get a sexy, hydrated smooth body, I find using dermalogica’s body hydrating cream great, it’s light, smells great and lightly exfoliates the skin leaving it feeling really smooth.

Dermalogica’s New Beauty School

Dermalogica’s New Beauty School

Dermalogica Academy
The New Dermalogica Academy

I am really excited to discover that dermalogica has recently opened it first skin care school, called the “dermalogica academy”. This dermalogica school has been designed to turn people into dermalogica skin care therapists, where they will learn the dermalogica art form of face mapping, professional skin care treatments, the skin bar process, microzone treatments, body treatments and even professional waxing and make up techniques and at the end of the course you will become a licensed skin care professional.

I am excited, the centre looks amazing this academy has just opened in America (New York), I wish they would open this in Australia, I would of loved to do my training with them.

Dermalogica have not scrimped when they designed this beauty centre, it has the latest gadgets and gizmo’s and I think there concept will do very well, I suppose they are preparing their students to be experts in dermalogica, so they are able to work in dermalogica stores and skin care centres around the world, kind of like Ella Bache here in Australia where you can learn to be a Ella Bache beauty therapist and then work in one of the Ella Bache Salons or open your own store.

If you ever get the chance to go to New York, you can book to have a skin care treatment with one of the students for a cheaper price, and experience the total dermalogica experience.

Check out the dermalogica academy here

Any way let me know what you think of the new dermalogica academy! Leave your comments below.

The Power of Peptides

Dermalogica and The Power of Peptides in Skin Care

Dermalogica Peptides
Dermalogica’s Powerful Peptides

Dermalogica has always looked at the use of ingredients in their skin care range with integrity, in fact there are many of the dermalogica skin care products which have peptides in them. Before I get into the dermalogica products that contain peptides and there uses, I want to go over what actually are peptides and how they benefit the skin.

What Are Peptides?

Peptides are a chains of protein fragments. Scientists can control the amount of amino acids in the peptide, how they are linked together and what response they want in the skin, depending on how the amino acids are ordered. Peptides are made in the laboratory (synthetically made) and they are the big discovery in the skin care world, with this new state of the art technology.

To give you an example of a peptide which you are familiar with is collagen. Collagen is a big amino acid chain of one thousand amino acids. Peptides made today are not very big compared to collagen, grouping amino acids into bundles of two, three, four and up to thirty four, not sure if they go higher than this? They are small so they can penetrate into the skin.

Peptides Used in Dermalogica Skin Care

Dermalogica have started implementing peptides into there formulations. The Age Smart range is full of them! Below I am going to list the peptides used, and what they are going to do in the skin, and the dermalogica products.

Dermalogica Age Smart Peptides

Dermalogica use these peptides in there Age Smart Line:-

Polypeptide (two amino acids) – Consisting of Argenine and Lysine – This peptide is wonderful it is used to trap suger to preven glycation taking place in the skin – basically helping to prevent your collagen and elastin breaking down. This peptide is found in Dermalogica’s Anti-oxidant Hydramist (if you are using multi-active toner and you are concerned about aging, give this a try!), dynamic skin recovery SPF 30, super rich repair, and even dermalogica’s renewal lip complex!

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 (three amino acids) – Palmitoyl is a carrier, which allows the peptides to enter the epidermis and begin to work. The tripeptide works at stimulating collgen, firming the skin and control the effects of enzymes that are responsible for breaking down different types of collagen and elastin within the skin. This peptide is used in Dermalogica’s Super Rich Repair, Anti-Oxidant Hydramist and Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30.

Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3 (five amino acids)  – Again Palmitoyl is a carrier, which allows the peptides to enter the epidermis and begin to work. The pentapeptide is responsible for alerting our cells to produce more collagen and hylauronic acid (which is the hydration in our skin). This peptide is used in dermalogica’s Power Rich Super Cream, when we reach thirty we lose 1% of collagen every year, so peptides are great way to stimulate different types of collagen in the skin, giving you plumper less wrinkled skin! I also have found that dermalogica’s extra firming booster uses this peptide for it’s firming effect. Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3 functions similar to vitamin C and Retinol (Vitamin A)!

Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (five amino acids) – Palmitoyl is a carrier, which allows the peptides to enter the epidermis and begin to work. Oligopeptide is a new peptide that conditions the skin and stimulates collagen formation and researchers are saying it is one of the next best ingredients next to retinol, with the added advantage of not having any side effects. This amazing peptide can be found in dermalogica’s renewal lip complex (Yes a lip balm with peptides, have a look at the link, you will see how amazing this lip product truly is), and even dermalogica’s sunscreen/moisturiser for mature skin extra rich face block SPF30!

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7  – This is the peptide that dermalogica so far only uses in it’s extra rich face block sunscreen, this peptide like the oligopeptide also is responsible for stimulating collagen and hylauronic acid therefore helping to increase elasticity and firmness within the skin.

Palmitoyl Oligopeptide-34 (thirteen amino acids) – This peptide addresses pigmentation (brown marks on the skin). Dermalogica developed this peptide with a biopharmaceutical company, and when they tested this peptide they were blown away with the results. They even have studies showing that this peptide is superior to vitamin C, and getting pigment reduction up to 47% improvement compared to vitamin C’s 27% reduction. With any skin care product for pigmentation you need to use the product regularly and always wear sunscreen and reapply. You need to have patience when using any pigmentation product, as it normally takes about four weeks for you start to see results. This peptide can be found in dermalogica’s chroma white range of products, the C-12 Concentrate, Pure Light SPF30 and Pure Night.

As you can see in dermalogica’s skin care range there are many dermalogica peptides being used, it is exciting to see what we will see next in the future of skin care products.

Agree? Disagree? Tell me your experiences of Using Any of The Dermalogica Anti-Aging Products or any tips that you have or anything to do with peptides I would love to hear your views, please comment below.

Dermalogica Shave – Great Men’s Range, But Great for Women Too!

Dermalogica’s Mens Range

Dermalogica Shave Skin Care System

Skin Care For Men By Dermalogica

It was about time that dermalogica came out with some excellent men’s products, listening to my client’s and from my own observations with my husband, men are becoming more aware that they should be looking after there skin. Most men start by using there partners skin care range before ever venturing out and buying skin care. Thanks to dermalogica there is now a wonderful range of skin care made for men, however trying it out myself – I can say I am a little jealous! The products feel, smell and are fantastic, they are a really good thought out range for the male skin type and the prices are really good value.

Dermalogica’s Easy Skin Care Routine

Dermalogica I think have it right with this Shave Range, it really is quick, simple and easy to use and becuase of this most males will use it. They have a wonderful scrub called Daily Clean Scrub, I tried this and I have to say I find it one of the best scrubs out there, I even like it better than Skin Prep Scrub! The great thing about this scrub is is can actually be used daily on male skin’s and really gives the skin a good clean!

If your man suffers with a heavy beard or has really very sensitive skin then using the pre-shave guard before applying your shaving product actually buffers the skin and softens the hairs, this actually helps reduce any irritation from razors – my son-in-law loves this as he suffers with sensitive skin from shaving.

Choose Your Way To Shave

In this Dermalogica Shave range there is actually three ways you can shave the skin. Men have a choice of soothing shave cream, invigorating shave gel and the close shave oil. Now being a dermalogica fanatic I have actually tried all of these on my skin to see what they feel like and I can tell you that if you suffer with sensitive skin or dry skin you will love the soothing shave cream, it’s so creamy and very hydrating and calming to the skin. The invigorating shave gel says what it is – it is invigorating, it really freshens up your skin, fells very cool but soothes at the same time, it has a foaming action, kind of like Special Cleansing Gel. Invigorating Shave is great for oily skin conditions. The close shave oil is a strange little product that men either love or hate, because it takes a little getting use too, but if you want a really close shave then this is your must have product to use and especially great if you have a goatee, beard or moustache. This shaving product works by acting as a buffer between your razor and skin with the use of silicone’s.

What To Do After Shaving

With a nice cleaned, shaved appearance, don’t stop here in your skin care routine, finish it off with dermalogica’s Post-Shave Balm – again I have tried this and it is brilliant, this is the product what I sneakily use from time to time just because it feels so good! But it actually lightly moisturises the skin, even helps to control oily shine and helps reduce ingrown hairs which can be a problem for a guy. I found this instantly soothes, it would be brilliant for men’s skin straight after shave it, it really is great.

Dermalogica even have a wonderful moisturiser for men to use daily. It is called Daily Defense Block, it has an SPF15 in it, it’s very light-weight it reminds me sort of  in between active moist and skin smoothing cream texture. It helps to fight against ingrown hairs, has antioxidants and vitamins in it, plus uses dermalogica’s UV smart booster technology. Every man should use this daily moisturiser it really is good at protecting and hydrating the skin.
